Golden Horse Award for
June 2018

When the Golden Horse Award was first brought up at a board meeting, the first person I thought of to nominate was Brandon Stinnett. Brandon is a Supervising RN in the Emergency Room at Kaiser Hospital in Vallejo and one of the kindest people I know. Last December I had the opportunity to see him in action at work. I was admitted to the hospital with a severe case of the flu and the kindness he showed me that night was above and beyond the call of duty. He calmed Dan’s fears and sent him home to get some rest and then stayed with me after his shift was over to make sure I was doing better before I was transferred to observation for the rest of the night. He even sent me text messages after I came home to make sure I was recovering okay. However, the story doesn’t end there. When Dan’s father was in the ER in February and again in March & April, Brandon showed the same care and concern for both Dan & his father. When I spoke to other GHMC members about my experience, they shared similar experiences of kindness shown to them by Brandon. For those reasons I am nominating Brandon for the Golden Horse Award which is given to members who go above and beyond while exemplifying the values of “The Friendliest Little Club.” By Norma McCabe
